Canada announces it will welcome over 1.2 million immigrants in the next three years

The Canadian Immigration Minister, Marco Mendicino, announced the details of Canada’s 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan.

Whereas Canada welcomed 341,000 new immigrants in 2019, Canada will look to welcome 1,233,000 new permanent residents over the next three years: 401,000 in 2021, 411,000 in 2022 and 421,000 in 2023.

 

Economic Class Immigration

A total of 59 per cent of candidates over the next three years are expected to be approved  under the economic class, through the Express Entry immigration programs, Quebec’s immigration programs and the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), as well as other streams.

The Federal High Skilled programs are set to welcome 108,500 immigrants in 2021; 110,500 immigrants in 2022; and 113,750 immigrants in 2023.

More PNP immigrants are set to arrive in 2023 than in any other year – a 37 per cent increase compared with 2019.
